Pain and discomfort in the feet is very tiring. This can be caused by dropping of the long and or metatarsal arches, in turn putting pressure on the soft tissues. Conditions such as ‘Plantar Fascietis’ (heel pain) or ‘Metatarsalia’ (Pain under the ball of the foot) can respond to Physiotherapy.
Orthotics are insoles designed to support the arches of the feet and are worn inside the shoes. They can help to reduce pain not only in the feet but surprisingly further up body for instance in the knees and back.
It is important to have the correct prescription for the orthotics, as everyone’s feet have different natural contours which need to be properly supported. Your Physiotherapist can discuss this with you.
